We need to make a page for our private tours.
This page is about private tours of company Winter Wagon offers.
The city for this private tour is Granby Colorado.
We can help clients with private tours from denver to winter park or just exploring winter park colorado. happy to take you on a private tour whenever you need.
Exploring Granby with Winter Wagon
So you are looking to check out Granby Colorado. Thats a great choice honestly. A lot of people just fly into Denver and head straight to Vail or Breckenridge and they kinda miss out on the hidden gems like Granby. Its quieter, the people are nicer, and the views? Yeah they are incredible.
At Winter Wagon we love Granby. We spend a lot of time up there driving folks around and we figured it was about time we offered some proper private tours for anyone who wants to see the area without the stress of driving. Because let’s be real, driving in the mountains can be a nightmare if your not used to it. The roads get icy, the wind blows the snow around, and honestly you should be looking at the mountains not the bumper of the car in front of you.
Why a Private Tour?
You might be thinking “hey i can just rent a car” and yeah sure you could. But do you really want to? When you book a private tour with us, you get the whole van or SUV to yourself. No sharing with strangers who talk to loud on their phone. It is just you, your family or friends, and one of our drivers who knows the roads like the back of their hand.
Plus we can stop whenever you want. See a moose? We can pull over so you can get a photo (from a safe distance of course). Need to grab a snack or use the bathroom? Just say the word. That is the beauty of a private tour. We are on your schedule not a bus schedule.
Getting from Denver to Granby
Most of our private tours start right at the airport in Denver. We pick you up at DIA and we head west. The drive is actually pretty cool. You go through the city and then boom your in the mountains. We usually take I-70 to highway 40 which takes you over berthoud pass.
Berthoud pass is stunning but it can be scary if you are driving. There are lots of switchbacks and steep drop offs. But dont worry our drivers do this everyday. You just sit back and relax. Maybe take a nap. Or just stare out the window at the continental divide. Its pretty wild to think that water on one side goes to the atlantic and the other side goes to the pacific.
Once we get over the pass we drop down into Winter Park and then just a little further is Granby. It takes about two hours give or take depending on traffic and weather.
What to do in Granby
Granby is kinda in the middle of everything. You have Winter Park to the south and Grand Lake to the north. Its the perfect base camp for a mountain adventure. Here is some of the stuff we can take you to see on your private tour.
Granby Ranch
If you like skiing but hate the crowds at the big mega resorts then you will love Granby Ranch. Its smaller, family friendly, and the terrain is super fun. We can drop you off right at the base and pick you up when your legs are tired. They also have night skiing which is super cool. Seeing the lights on the snow under the stars is something you wont forget.
Lake Granby
This lake is huge. Like seriously big. In the winter it freezes over and you see little ice fishing tents popping up everywhere. We can drive you down to the shore so you can walk out on the ice (if its safe obviously). The views of the mountains reflecting off the ice are crazy. In the summer its great for boating and fishing too but we really love the winter vibes.
Hot Sulphur Springs
Okay so this is technically a little past Granby but its totally worth the drive. There are these natural hot springs that just bubble up out of the ground. There are different pools with different temperatures. After a long day of being in the cold snow nothing feels better than soaking in hot mineral water. We can drive you there, wait while you soak, and then drive you back all warm and toasty.
The Winter Wagon Difference
So why choose us? There are other shuttle companies out there right?
Well yeah there are. But we like to think we are different. We are a smaller company so we actually care about you. Your not just a ticket number to us. We want you to have a good time.
Here is a little chart to show you what i mean.
| Feature | Driving Yourself | Winter Wagon Private Tour |
|---|---|---|
| Stress Level | High (sweaty palms) | Zero (napping) |
| View | The road | The mountains |
| Parking | Expensive and hard to find | We drop you at the door |
| Flexibility | Your stuck driving | We stop when you want |
| Snacks | Whatever is in the gas station | We can stop for good food |
We also have really nice vehicles. We use big SUVs and transit vans that are clean and comfortable. We have plenty of room for all your luggage and ski gear. And we have snow tires. Good ones. Not the cheap ones the rental car places use. Safety is a big deal for us because we drive these roads every day.
Summer in Granby
I know i have been talking a lot about winter (our name is Winter Wagon after all) but Granby is awesome in the summer to.
If you come in July or August the wildflowers are popping. We can take you on a tour up into Rocky Mountain National Park. The entrance is just up the road in Grand Lake. You can see elk, moose, maybe even a bear if your lucky. And the hiking is world class.
We can also take you to see the Colorado River. It runs right through town. Its great for fishing or just sitting by the water and relaxing.
Customizing Your Tour
The best part about our private tours is that they are totally customizable. You tell us what you want to do and we make it happen.
- Want to spend the whole day skiing? Cool.
- Want to go brewery hopping in Winter Park and Fraser? We can be your designated driver.
- Want to just drive around and look at fancy mountain houses? We can do that to.
We are here to help you make the most of your trip. If you dont know what you want to do just ask us. We are locals (mostly) and we know all the good spots. We know where the best burger is, we know where the best view of the sunset is, and we know which tourist traps to avoid.
A Note on Altitude
One thing you gotta remember when you come to Granby is the altitude. Its high up there. Like 8,000 feet high.
If your coming from sea level you might feel it a bit. Drink lots of water. Seriously, drink more water than you think you need. And maybe take it easy on the beer the first night. We want you to have fun not a headache.
Our drivers always have water in the car so just ask if you need some. We want to make sure your feeling good so you can enjoy the tour.
Booking Your Private Tour
Booking with us is super easy. You can just go to our website and fill out the form or give us a call. We are pretty responsive.
Just let us know:
- When you are coming
- How many people are in your group
- Where you want to go
- If you have any special requests (like a car seat for the little one or extra room for a massive snowboard bag)
We will get back to you with a quote and get everything set up.
Why We Love What We Do
Honestley we just love showing people around our backyard. Colorado is such a special place and we feel lucky to live here. Seeing the look on someones face when they see the Rockies for the first time is pretty cool.
We have driven families from Florida who have never seen snow before. We have driven couples on their honeymoon. We have driven groups of buddies on a ski trip. Everyone is different but everyone is happy to be here.
And we try to keep the vibe relaxed. We arent stiff chauffeurs in suits and ties. We are just normal people who like to drive and like people. We might play some music (you can pick the station if you want) or we can just chat. Or if you want quiet time thats cool to. Its your tour.
Things to Remember
Just a few quick tips for your trip to Granby.
- Layers: The weather changes fast. It might be sunny one minute and snowing the next. Bring layers so you can add or subtract as needed.
- Sunscreen: The sun is strong up here. Even in winter. You can get a sunburn pretty easy so slather it on.
- Camera: Your gonna want to take pictures. Lots of them.
- Good Shoes: Leave the high heels at home. You need boots or sturdy shoes with good grip. Its slippery out there.
Lets Go!
So yeah that is pretty much it. Granby is awesome and we want to show it to you. Whether you need a ride from the airport or just want a tour of the local area Winter Wagon has got you covered.
Don’t settle for a crowded shuttle bus or a stressed out rental car experience. Treat yourself to a private tour. You are on vacation after all. You deserve to relax and enjoy the ride.
We hope to see you soon! If you have any questions just holler at us. We are always happy to help plan your perfect mountain getaway.
Safe travels and hopefully we will be driving you around Granby soon!
A few extra details regarding the trip
If you decide to book, we usually will send you a confirmation email pretty quick. make sure to check your spam folder just in case it lands there. sometimes our emails get lost in the internet void.
Also if your bringing pets let us know. We love dogs but we need to know ahead of time to make sure we have the right vehicle for you. We don’t want Fido to be cramped in the back.
And one last thing. If the weather is really bad, like blizzard bad, we might have to adjust the schedule a bit. We are good drivers but we don’t mess with mother nature. We want you to get there safe and sound. We will always keep you in the loop if things change.
Granby is waiting for you. The mountains are calling (sorry had to use that cheesy line at least once). But seriously it is beautiful up here and we cant wait to show you around.
See ya on the road!
